1.Definitions
In these terms:
1.1. “Member” means any person accepted into the Death Committee.
1.2. “Family Membership” means a membership that includes a married couple or one/two parent(s) or guardian(s) and their children who reside at the same address.
1.3. “Membership Year” means the calendar year from 1 January to 31 December.
2.Membership eligibility
2.2 Proof of residency and identity may be required.
2.3 MWO reserves the right to accept, refuse or terminate any application at its sole discretion. MWO is not required to give reasons.
2.4 Members must inform MWO of any change of residency, health or contact details.
3. Application and administrative donation
3.2 The administrative donation amounts are set out on the Membership page and in the application form.
4. Annual donation and membership period
4.2 Annual donations for subsequent years must be paid in full on or before 1 January of each membership year. Failure to pay may result in termination of membership.
4.3 All donations are non-refundable except as set out in clause 10.
5.Payment method
5.1 All donations shall be paid by bank transfer to the following account:

5.2 Members must use their name and postcode as the payment reference and should email proof of payment to [email protected] Annual donations for subsequent years must be paid in full on or before 1 January of each membership year. Failure to pay may result in termination of membership.
4.3 All donations are non-refundable except as set out in clause 10.
6.Funeral coverage and limitations
6.1 The Death Committee provides up to £3,000 towards the funeral costs of a deceased member.
6.2 If funeral costs exceed £3,000 the next of kin or family shall be responsible for the shortfall.
6.3 Payments will be made only upon receipt of a certified copy of the original death certificate.
6.4 Additional expenses such as repatriation outside the UK, extra caskets, flowers and other discretionary items are the responsibility of the deceased’s family.
6.5 MWO may provide guidance to the family to assist with Islamic funeral arrangements where requested.
7.Insufficient funds

8.2 Members may request annual statements of account.
9.Pre-existing medical conditions and disclosure
9.2 Applicants who have been previously diagnosed with or treated for a critical condition are ineligible for membership.
10.Cancellation and refunds
10.1 Members may cancel their membership by submitting the MWO Death Committee Cancellation Form.
10.2 Refunds:
1. Cancellations made within 14 calendar days of joining: 90% refund of the membership donation (10% retained for administration).
2. After 14 days: no refund will be issued.
10.3 The one-off administrative donation of £100 is non-refundable.
11.Membership renewal and rejoining
11.2 Lapsed members who wish to rejoin will be treated as new applicants and must pay the applicable fees.

14.Complaints
14.2 MWO will investigate complaints in accordance with its internal complaint handling procedure and will seek to respond in a fair and timely manner
15.Dispute resolution
15.2 If mediation fails, disputes will be resolved under the Arbitration Act 1996 and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
16.Force majeure
MWO shall not be liable for failure to provide services caused by events beyond its reasonable control including natural disasters, pandemics or government restrictions.
17.Limitation of liability
18.Data protection
MWO will process personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. The Privacy Policy sets out details of how data is processed and members’ rights.
19.Fund closure
If the Death Committee Fund ceases, any remaining funds will be distributed proportionately among active members, subject to trustee discretion and availability of funds.
20.Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales and members submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
